PO Box 54466 Tulsa, OK 74155 Quotes "70,000 gun nuts are meeting in Houston, Texas for the NRA's big convention. Which is actually good economic news for the city’s hotels and restaurants, and also the hookers who generally prefer men with smaller penises.” -- Bill Maher on his show Friday, Send e-mail to Bart Smoke Signals: A Social History of Marijuana - Medical, Recreational and Scientific [Hardcover] Martin A. Lee traces the dramatic social history of marijuana from its origins to its emergence in the 1960s as a defining force in a culture war that has never ceased. Lee describes how the illicit marijuana subculture overcame government opposition and morphed into a dynamic, multibillion-dollar industry. Lee draws attention to underreported scientific breakthroughs that have developed promising treatments for cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, chronic pain, and many other conditions beyond the reach of conventional cures. Click to Order GOP to Push Benghazi Forever It's a loser for them but it's all they've got Link Steady drips of information about Benghazi are fueling Republican arguments and ads designed to fire up the Teabaggers and undercut Hillary for president in 2016. Desperate Republicans are looking at almost certain defeat in 2016 so they're trying anything that might change the staus quo. But after eight months of trying, inept Democrats are still struggling to move past Benghazi but they can't remember to list the goddamn facts. Democrats insist that an independent inquiry, the dismissal of several State Department officials, and nine congressional hearings leave little new to say on the matter. But Friday turned up the sort of nuggets that feed conservative activists' belief that a major scandal may still be possible. Newly revealed communications show that senior State Department officials pressed for changes in the talking points that Susan Rice used a few days after the Benghazi attacks. These senior officials expressed concerns that Congress might criticize Obama for ignoring warnings of a growing threat in Libya. That bold part tells you everything you need to know. The GOP has known about the "pressed for changes" thing since February. They're "revealing" this now like they just learned of it. They've got NOTHING for 2016 and it shows. Who's going to be their big hero next time - Ted Cruz? Rand Paul? Marco Rubio? Can any Republican stand on the same stage as Hillary and not look like a joke? It would seem, after demonizing the Black guy for five years, they're turning their guns on Hillary. They've tried that before and how did it work out? Bill Maher: "They think they can attack Hillary with scandals? Scandals only make her stronger - she eats scandals for f-ing breakfast!" The fact is "Benghazi" is the Republican's vision for America's future. How's that going to look on a bumper sticker? "Remember Benghazi and Vote for Ted Cruz." Sounds like a winner to me. Advertise on bartcop.com Stop the Military Rape 'Perks' That uniform doesn't mean rape is OK Link The Pentagon released a survey estimating that the number of sexual assaults jumped from 19,000 in 2010 to 26,000, just a few days after the Air Force officer in charge of sexual-assault prevention programs was arrested for battery. The increase is especially distressing because rates of other violent crimes in the military are so much lower than in the civilian world. IWhat is more upsetting are the signs that many in the military still have such a narrow, misguided understanding of the dynamics of rape. For example, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh noted that 20 percent of women report they had been sexually assaulted before they came into the military and blamed that on “the hookup mentality,” which he implied they carry with them into the military. The real problem with Welsh’s statement is that "hookups" are voluntary. They are not the same as assault or rape. This backward thinking permeates and taints the Air Force’s education and awareness efforts. An Air Force brochure, for example, unhelpfully portrays sexual assault as largely a problem of violent stranger rape. But the reality is that most rapists usually target acquaintances and are more likely to incapacitate their victims rather than use outright violence, and they tend to offend repeatedly. Sadly, military women must assume that every man they meet intends to rape them. For instance, they can't drink anything unless they, personally, broke the safety wrapper. The bigger problem is when a superior officer is the rapist or provides cover for the rapist. Instead of stopping these crimes, Congress has chosen to give the military men their rapes. Do you think recruiters tell men, "Once you sign up, you can rape all the women you want?" Send e-mail to Bart Shop

The Rape of Petty Officer Blumer Inside the military's culture of sex abuse, denial and cover-up Link The night before, she and some friends had gone to a bar not far from base for a couple of beers. Three Army guys sent Blumer a shot of Jägermeister, a drink she didn't care much for but had downed anyway. The last thing Blumer remembered was being overwhelmed by a dizzy, sluggish feeling, her limbs and head too heavy to lift. She got a DWI that night and then it dawned on her: she had been roofied and raped. Blumer, a standout sailor with an unblemished record, was sure she could clear things up. She wrote a statement in the crowded office that described her suspicions about what had actually occurred, and her urgent need for medical attention. The female JAG prosecutor asked her: "Did you inflict your injuries yourself?" It was Blumer's first glimpse of a hidden side of military culture, in which rapes happen with disturbing regularity. And it was her first sense of what lay in store after coming forward as a military rape victim: that she would be treated with suspicion by those charged with helping her, penalized by command and ostracized by her unit. "Once my assault happened," Blumer says, "my whole future disappeared." "Blue on blue" sexual crime has become utterly commonplace. Just ask 23-year-old Lance Cpl. Nicole McCoy, who was assaulted so often during her four-year stint that she came to regard it as an unavoidable, even sanctioned, part of service. "I thought it was just a normal thing in the military, almost like a hazing process," remembers McCoy, who left the Marines in May 2012. "It seemed like everyone gets raped and assaulted and no one does anything about it; it's like a big rape cult." You should read this entire article. You will be seething with rage before you finish. It's obvious that rape is legal in the military, so much, that female members help cover it up, because if they don't, they're "bitches" who can't be trusted by the rapists with whom they serve. Send e-mail to Bart Subject: Mike Huckabee is Dangerous Link Send e-mail to Bart Two Missing from Carnival Ship Link Authorities in Australia are searching for a couple who apparently fell overboard on a Carnival Spirit cruise ship the night before it was scheduled to dock in Sydney, according to surveillance video, police said. The couple -- a 30-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman -- was reported missing after the ship docked at the end of a 10-day journey, according to The Whore AP. Hutchings said surveillance video from Wednesday night shows the couple falling from the ship's mid-deck about 65 miles off the coast of Forester, a city 185 miles from Sydney. Police are investigating whether the couple jumped from the ship or fell by accident. The couple's identities have not been released. Police were alerted two hours after the ship docked that the couple was missing. I know nothing about this but I have a theory: As you know, cruise ships are floating rape barges. The lady involved was attractive, so I assume some thugs cornered the couple, raped the woman and then threw them both off the ship to hide their crime. After that Cleveland deal, do you doubt rapist thugs would do that? Send e-mail to Bart Subject: your prop-ganda Link Send e-mail to Bart Bartcop's Computer Repair

WTF is Wrong with America? by Dave Lindorff Link If I were just create my web site these days, I’d have to call it “WTF!” Consider some recent news. * In late April, a high school student in the town of Methuen, outside Boston, posted a rap on his Facebook page that made a musical, non-specific reference to making a bomb bigger than the Boston Marathon bomb. He didn’t do anything, didn’t make a bomb, didn’t attempt to get the materials for a bomb, and by all accounts didn’t know how to make a bomb. He just wrote and sang about the idea. No matter, he was arrested by Methuen’s Finest, and is now in jail on -- get this -- $1 million bail -- awaiting arraignment on state “terrorism” charges that carry a potential prison sentence of 20 years. The kid has the misfortune of being 18, so he’s being treated as an adult, though he clearly is not one. Then there’s the sad story of a five-year-old who fatally shot his two-year-old sister with a rifle while their mother had “stepped outside” the house, leaving the two small kids alone and unsupervised. Such tales of gun accidents by children are all too common, but this one came with a bizarre twist: the five-year-old was reportedly firing his own rifle! It was a cute little “starter” .22-cal. gun called a Crickett (motto: “My first rifle”) available in blue, pink and red-white-and-blue. His doting grandma had bought for him as a birthday gift... ...and the local sheriff said, "This is a tragic accident." Really? So it's a million dollar crime to sing about bombs and it's an "accident" when a 5 year old shoots his sister dead? Dave is right - this country is f-ing crazy. Send e-mail to Bart See more

Send e-mail to Bart Subject: An Observation Hello Bartcop: To steal a line from Raylon Givens on "Justified." The American people: "Hey, GOP, why do you have to be such dicks?" Bert in Monteagle, TN Bert, thanks for that. Positive mail is rare - most people write to complain. Send e-mail to Bart Benghazi Forever - they won't stop Can Obama figure a way out of the mess? Link The top Democrat on the House Oversight panel said Monday that the authors of an independent investigation into Benghazi should answer questions about their work at a congressional hearing, not in a private deposition that the Republicans want. "If our committee is truly interested in improving the security of American diplomatic personnel overseas, members of our committee and the American public should hear first-hand from the individuals who have done the most exhaustive review of these attacks," Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland wrote in a letter to Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., the panel's chairman. Issa said he would seek sworn testimony from veteran diplomat Thomas Pickering and retired Adm. Mike Mullen, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The two conducted an independent investigation of the Benghazi attacks. Obama said this morning at his I-have-something-to-hide press conference, "There's no there, there," which shows how bad he is at crisis management. Besides poker and pot, his answer to EVERY crisis is to stand there and f-ing dither. If that continues, his second term will fail. He needs to call a press conference alongside Hillary and Thomas Pickering and Admiral Mullen and Ambassador Pickering and former Secretary Robert Gates and General Petraeus and say, "We're going to answer every question you have no matter how long it takes because we can't waste the next three years arguing about something that's not there." Holding a press conference where you don't have time to answer questions that every reporter is barking at you is EXACTLY the wrong way to handle this. Or, he can just dither the next three years away and leave America's whore press saying, "You see what happens when you elect a Black guy?"
