PO Box 54466 Tulsa, OK 74155 Link Liberal or conservative, intentionally or not, all sources of news contain some form of bias. Some use it as an explicit marketing tool, some attempt to remain objective, but all news sources cover the same story differently. Spectrum News Prism was designed to help explore stories across news sources. News sources are ranked across the spectrum of ideology, from liberal to conservative, literally left to right, providing an intuitive browsing tool to compare coverage between them. Does the story lead with the negative or bury it in the end? Do the editorial decisions and word choices reflect that news sources bias regarding the stories content? The only way to tell is to compare them in real time. Search for a single word, issue or name and scroll across the spectrum of coverage to compare real-time coverage across news sources. Quotes "I saw John Wilkes Booth shoot President Lincoln." -- Samuel .J Seymour on CBS's "I've Got a Secret," 1956 Video Send e-mail to Bart The Teabagger's Path to Irrelevance Saw it in Cheney's paper, the New York Whore Times Link The Tea Party has a new crusade: preventing illegal immigrants from gaining citizenship, which they say is giving amnesty to lawbreakers. Judson Phillips, the founder of Tea Party Nation, recently said his members were “more upset about the amnesty bill than they were about Obamacare. ”They’re so upset, in fact, that supporters of immigration reform, like Thirsty Marco Rubio and Fabulous Lindsey Graham have become marked men in their party, while House Republicans have followed the Tea Party lead by refusing to even consider the Senate’s bipartisan reform plan. Today’s Republicans are not likely to disappear completely, but Thirsty and Fabulous understand that a party that seeks to defy demography, relying on white resentment toward a rising tide of nonwhite newcomers, dooms itself to permanent minority status. I haven't really had time to work up a good hate for Thirsty, but Fabulous losing would really put a smile on my face so I'm looking forward to that. Send e-mail to Bart Subject: Obama & NSA Are Lying about snooping Bart, you wrote: >Obama's either lying or he's f-ing not. You are right and Obama is lying. They are ABSOLUTELY able to spy on anything on the internet. What they are doing is intercepting every data packet that passes around the internet. They have the world's biggest network "sniffer" that inspects every bit of data (your text, your password, your bank account number, etc.) as it passes around the internet in Ethernet data packets. Perhaps just as important, they have the computer horsepower to analyze that mountain of data. What they have already admitted to is collecting all of the information passing through the internet, what the President is trying to make us believe is that they don't look at it. My question is - why collect all the data if you're not going to look at it? Saying they don't look at the data doesn't pass the smell test. Certainly the NSA isn't disassembling every communication but, if your communication runs afoul of whatever traps or filters they have set, you can bet your ass they're looking at the actual decrypted traffic. Where I worked, we used to monitor employee email and internet searches all the time (it's not hard). Don't tell me the government isn't doing this too. Dennis in DC Two things: What if it's like a traffic camera on a busy street? There's no reason to investigate EVERY CAR that drives thru an intersection BUT if there's a myrder or kidnapping THEN they can look at the footage and see where they went. But also, if you believe Obama is lying/breaking the law/destroying the Constitution why aren't you organizing a million-man-type march to call for him to step down? It's either important or it's not, right?? Send e-mail to Bart Advertise with Bartcop.com, Spend Money, Make Money Two days just $35 One week just $70 Don't let Bush's recession kill your business. Hillary
by two dudes at the WaHoPo Link The contest is more than two years away, and Hillary has not decided whether she will be a part of it. But the race to define her potential candidacy is well underway — and far outside her control. Does that make any sense? Who doesn't know who Hillary is and what she's about? How is someone going to "define" a person we already know well? Clinton is trying to hover above the partisan fray for as long as possible, but some of her allies appear to be placing her back in it. Emily’s List is staging a town hall meeting Friday in Iowa to start making the case for putting a woman in the White House. Does that make any sense? Looks like someone had a column do Wednesday and this is the best they could do. On Monday, the RNC tried to pop the Clinton balloon by threatening NBC and CNN on future presidential debates unless they stop the production of planned projects about Clinton’s life. Scarred after two consecutive presidential defeats, Republicans are wary of allowing another Democratic candidate to become a seemingly untouchable luminary, The networks were undeterred, indicating that they are moving ahead with production. Prettyboy said Tuesday on PostTV, “My guess is this is exactly what’s going to happen: They will produce the films, and we will cut them out.” Perfect, Prettyboy. Yo've already alienated women, Blacks, gays, Latinos, the poor and all minorities so you figure a fight with two networks will help get your hate message out? Is Mitch the Bitch in Big Trouble? Teabaggers coming at him from the Right Link In Washington, Mitch McConnell is the Senate Republicans’ floor general and a major power broker. Back home in Kentucky, however, he is possibly the most endangered member of the GOP Senate caucus ahead of next year’s midterm elections, as he tries to balance pleasing vociferous right-wing constituents with his role as chief congressional dealmaker. McConnell faces a serious, well-funded challenge from the right in the GOP primary. The move is forcing the Turtle to defend his role vis-a-vis Obama as well as his support for Bush’s big-spending agenda. “It doesn’t seem like there is a single piece of wasteful spending that Mitch McConnell has not been a supporter of,” said Matt Bevin, the wealthy businessman who is taking on The Bitch in the primary. Subject: Russian decision Obama’s childish pushing away from the scheduled meeting with Putin is likely to have serious consequences. I guess boys will be boys, but I had so hoped we had elected a man-President for a much needed change. Instead, we got Bush 44. Richard I guess that's one way to look at it. Another way would be to say that things were bad enough between the two countries before Snowden decided to steal American security secrets and run to Russia with them, forcing Pooti to either look weak and give Obama what he wanted or look "manly" and grant the suspected thief asylum. But that doesn't work if you start with the premise that Snowden is a hero. Send e-mail to Bart Thurston Warns GOP on Shutdown Link Mitt Romney iswarning congressional Republicans against forcing a government shutdown in their quest to stop Obama's health care law. Romney addressed more than 200 rich-ass donors at a fundraiser. The event was closed to the media, but his office released his prepared remarks. Romney, 66, warned congressional Republicans against letting emotions drive their decisions. "I badly want Obamacare to go away, and stripping it of funds has appeal. But we need to exercise great care about any talk of shutting down government," Romney said. "What would come next when soldiers aren't paid, when seniors fear for their Medicare and Social Security, and when the FBI is off duty?" He continued: "I'm afraid that in the final analysis, Obamacare would get its funding, our party would suffer in the next elections, and the people of the nation would not be happy. I think there are better ways to remove Obamacare." Romney did not criticize anyone by name, but everyone knows he was talking to "Thirsty" Marco Rubio, insane Ted Cruz of Texas and Mike Lee of Utah, who are urging Republicans to swear off voting for any year-end spending bill that includes money for the president's health care law. Parts of the federal government would shut down on Oct. 1 if Congress doesn't approve a short-term funding bill before then. They do this every time and every time they get the blame for it, going all the way back to 1995 when Snoot shut down the government because he didn't like boarding Air Force One using a different door than Clinton used. Send e-mail to Bart Subject: Peace Prize Oslo should revoke Obama's Nobel "Peace Prize" (which never amounted to anything except a total joke) and instead reissue it to Bradley Manning, Snowden, and Julian Assange. Republicans Against Reality by Paul Krugman Link Last week House Republicans voted for the 40th time to repeal Obamacare. Like the previous 39 votes, this action will have no effect whatsoever. But it was a stand-in for what Republicans really want to do: repeal reality, and the laws of arithmetic in particular. The sad truth is that the modern G.O.P. is lost in fantasy, unable to participate in actual governing. I’m talking about their apparent inability to accept very basic reality constraints, like the fact that you can’t cut overall spending without cutting spending on particular programs, or the fact that voting to repeal legislation doesn’t change the law when the other party controls the Senate and the White House. Am I exaggerating? Consider what went down in Congress last week. First, House leaders had to cancel planned voting on a transportation bill, because not enough representatives were willing to vote for the bill’s steep spending cuts. Now, just a few months ago House Republicans approved an extreme austerity budget, mandating severe overall cuts in federal spending — and each specific bill will have to involve large cuts in order to meet that target. But it turned out that a significant number of representatives, while willing to vote for huge spending cuts as long as there weren’t any specifics, balked at the details. Don’t cut you, don’t cut me, cut that fellow behind the tree. Subject: Re: Women Raped by Texas Troopers That's disgusting. Those humiliating public searches provide the best argument I seen yet for legalizing marijuana.. Marijuana laws as they presently exist in most areas of the U.S. provide too many lame excuses for abusing people's rights. There is no justifiable defense, for suspected marijuana use, for law enforcement officers to use of all these senseless abuses of personal privacy and personal freedom. Legalize marijuana everywhere at all federal, state and local levels. Astrocat Send e-mail to Bart Happy
