Russia, West on collision course over Syria

Russia's two-and-a-half year dispute with the West over Syria hit a new peak Monday
as Moscow warned against military action without UN approval and cast doubt over the
regime's involvement in a claimed chemical weapons attack.
The alleged use of chemical weapons has driven a new wedge between Russia and the West,
with Moscow and Western capitals offering vastly different interpretations of the incident.
Whereas rge West says the attack appears to have been perpetrated by Assad,
Russia believes it was a ploy by rebels with the aim of discrediting the Kremlin's traditional ally.
A telephone call Monday between Pooty and British PM David Cameron underlined how far apart
Moscow and the West were. Pooty said that "they did not have evidence of chemical weapons or
who was responsible." Cameron insisted that there was "little doubt" Assad had carried out
a chemical attack, according to a readout of the conversation.
Obama had a chance to fix this years ago, but it's so much more fun to dither, instead.
Now the whole world is involved and Obama has very few, if any, good options.

A conservative group is running radio ads against Mitch the Bitch in Kentucky, as part of its
push to replace the five-term incumbent with any f-ing body in the GOP primary next year.
The Madison Project said its new “Would a Conservative” ad will run statewide and is the first
of several planned spots that the group hopes will highlight Mr. McConnell’s “record of hypocrisy.”
In the spot, the group dings The Bitch for supporting “amnesty” in 1986 and 2006, the 2008
Wall Street bailout and a $2.4 trillion increase in the nation’s borrowing limit.
“Would a self-proclaimed conservative ‘leader’ be undermining the effort to defund Obamacare?”
the narrator says in the ad. “Absolutely not. But that is exactly what Mitch McConnell is up to now.”
“After 28 years of Mitch McConnell claiming to be a conservative but then supporting big government
policies, isn’t time conservatives dump Mitch McConnell?” the narrator says.
Yes, it's time for the Bitch to go.

The Senate Judiciary Committee chairman announced Monday that the panel will hold a hearing
on marijuana, the latest effort to smoke out the Justice Department’s input on the conflict
between state and federal pot laws.
The hearing, scheduled for Sept. 10, comes 10 months after Colorado and Washington state voters
legalized recreational marijuana in the November 2012 election. Since then, federal and state lawmakers
have repeatedly asked the Justice Department for guidance on how to proceed with the newly passed laws,
which run afoul of federal law prohibiting marijuana consumption and sales.
Invited to testify at the hearing are AG Eric Holder and Deputy AG James Cole. Holder said in a speech
that he would issue guidance “soon,” adding, “We’re in the last stages of that review.” That was Feb. 26.
So far, the department has released no advisory clarifying the state-federal conflict.
“It is important, especially at a time of budget constraints, to determine whether it is the best use of federal
resources to prosecute the personal or medicinal use of marijuana in states that have made such consumption legal,”
said Sen. Patrick J. Leahy. “I believe that these state laws should be respected.”
I'm sure President Dither needs a few more years to ponder this question.
Speaking of his constant dithering, I sure wish Obama had talken my advice TWO YEARS AGO
to do something about Syria, but he dithered like he always does and Syria has only gotten worse.
Oh, and did I mention 100,000 people have died while Obama dithered?

They claim that “Impeachable Offenses” had already pre-sold nearly 100,000 copies.

“The Case for Impeachment,” which is “an insightful summary of how Obama’s purposeful actions have

In implementing a new era of voter suppression aimed at minorities, the American Right has wildly
exaggerated the significance of the Tenth Amendment – and the mainstream U.S. press corps
consistently fails to challenge this historical distortion.
The latest example came when the Justice Department announced plans to contest a new Texas law
that would require voter IDs supposedly in response to the virtually non-existent problem of in-person
voter fraud but with the obvious intent of blocking blacks, Hispanics and the poor – who often lack
the mandated photo IDs – from voting.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry, a Republican infamous for his clueless campaign in 2012, invoked neo-Confederate
arguments to contest the right of the federal government to intervene to protect the voting rights of minorities.
Citing the Tenth Amendment, which preserves for individuals and the states powers that the Constitution
doesn’t grant to the federal government, Perry insisted that the Justice Department’s move was unconstitutional.
“We continue to defend the integrity of our elections against this administration’s blatant disregard
for the Tenth Amendment,” Perry declared.
Is Gov. Perry acting crazier than usual to signal the Baggers that he's
decided to run another comedy campaign for president in 2016?
