Link Lawmakers face a midnight Monday deadline to complete a stopgap spending bill to avoid a partial government shutdown that would keep hundreds of thousands of federal workers off the job, close national parks and generate damaging headlines for whichever side the public holds responsible Republicans. The timeline is daunting since House GOP leaders appear all but certain to reject the Senate's attempt at a simple, straightforward stopgap spending bill like those routinely passed since the 1995-96 government shutdowns that screwed Republicans sideways and strengthened the once-at-39% President Bill Clinton. A 21-hour talkathon by Sen. Ted Cruz, our next president, whipped up the GOP's teabaggers even as it complicated efforts by House GOP leaders to assemble rank-and-file support for a temporary spending measure. Cruz wants to derail the spending bill to deny Democrats the ability to strip out the anti-Obamacare provision, a strategy that has put him at odds with sane Republicans who say the move won't work and fear it would spark a shutdown and GOP backlash. This is one of the slowest moving trainwrecks in recent memory. Everybody can see what's about to happen, but the GOP is still going to crash. Can you say "Democratic House?" Send e-mail to Bart 'Molly' overdoses increasing but unclear what drugs people are actually taking Link The sweaty, overheated, agitated young people who come into the ER often say they’ve taken a synthetic drug they call “Molly,” but physician Cathleen Clancy says she never knows for sure what these patients have actually taken. Instead, Clancy, a doctor in Washington, D.C., treats the symptoms, including high fevers, seizures, agitation, elevated heart rates, until whatever drug it is wears off. “People are using themselves as guinea pigs,” Clancy says. Police report growing abuse of the club drug “Molly,” touted as a pure capsule of the hallucinogen Ecstasy, but health officials say the users may be paying top dollar for something else entirely, and it could be making them sick. Molly’s popularity -- and the growing number of illnesses attributed to it -- has caught the attention of Dianne Feinstein. She has proposed a law that would tighten the regulation of synthetic drugs, including K2, Spice, Molly and “bath salts,” which mimic the effects of Ecstasy, PCP, LSD and marijuana. Isn't the fact that pot isn't legal the real problem here? Granted, this is not a well-thought out idea, but human nature being what it is, and assuming you'd rather your kid he high than dead, maybe pot should be legal for anyone who's old enough to drive a car. I'm not FOR this, but if you can trust your kid to drive a 2-ton killing machine at a potential speed of 100 MPH, maybe you can trust them with marijuana. farm subsidies for me, no food stamps for you
by Laura Clawson Link By now, anti-food stamp crusader Rep. Stephen Fincher is notorious for raking in millions in farm subsidies while misquoting the Bible in favor of deep cuts to SNAP. But let's not forget that he's far from alone among House Republican in voting to take food from the poor while happily taking farm subsidies for himself. Another Republican congresswoman who voted to make cuts to the food stamp program was Rep. Vicky Hartzler of Missouri. Her farm received more than $800,000 in Department of Agriculture subsidies from 1995-2012. In 2001, her farm received $135,482 in subsidies. Rep. Kristi Noem of South Dakota, who also voted to make cuts to the program, was a partner in Racota Valley Ranch, her family’s farm and previously had nearly a 17% stake through 2008. The farm received $3.4 million in subsidies from 1995-2012. The Environmental Working Group, which analyzes subsidy data, says the “estimated amount of subsidies attributed to Rep. Noem from 1995-2012 is $503,751.” Send e-mail to Bart Subject: Obamacare Bart, the media needs to say on every comment about obamacare that only 'uninsured' americans are affected. think of how the truth would change the debate. ca ray, Koresh knows we can't get the Democrats to list the facts. JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon met with Eric Holder as the nation's biggest bank attempts to end federal and state investigations into its liability for swindling billions of dollars out of millions of people by selling shoddy mortgage securities. JPMorgan is hoping to ease some of the pressure that regulators have been putting on the bank for more than a year. The bank avoided the worst losses in the financial crisis, but it has been under intense scrutiny since May 2012, when it said it was losing money on derivatives bets that became known as the "London Whale" trades. Those trades ended up costing the bank more than $6.2 billion before taxes, and subsequent probes into how the losses happened revealed that Dimon had a dysfunctional relationship with regulators. The meeting between Dimon and Holder, the worst negotiator in American history, marks another step in the nation's attempts to sort out responsibility for the financial crisis that hit five years ago. The meeting follows negotiations this week between JPMorgan and federal and state authorities over the bank paying as much as $7 billion in cash and $4 billion in consumer for their crimes. Is Eric Holder too stupid to learn or is he getting a cut? If nobody goes to jail, I guarantee the banksters will continue swingling us. If nobody goes to jail, the only thing that will happen is JPMorgan's stock will go UP because with this "pressure" off their backs, they can get back to swindling poor folks out of their homes. If nobody goes to jail, why stop? Send e-mail to Bart Advertise with Bartcop.com, Spend Money, Make Money Two days just $35 One week just $70 Don't let Bush's recession kill your business. Fight back! Advertise on bartcop.com President Obama's opening lines at the U.N. on Tuesday looked down on people who would think to settle disputes with war. That's one of the most poorly written sentences I've ever read in my life. I had to read it four times to figure out what the hell he was trying to say. Even now, I'm not 100% sure what it says. Obama was disingenuously avoiding the fact that earlier this month he sought to drop missiles into a country to "send a message" but was blocked by the U.S. Congress, the U.N., the nations of the world, and popular opposition -- after which Obama arrived at diplomacy as a last resort. I hate it when the Left attacks their president. I extra hate it when they attack with lies. Obama is the goddamn Commander in Chief and it's his job to protect America. He's got more information about the situation than David fucking Swanson and if the peacenik we trusted with the White House decides to act militarily it would be nice - just once - if the Democrats could let him finish his first sentence before screaming "Hitler" at him. Republicans regularly prop up idiotic war-mongering felons when they control the White House. Democrats can't wait to scream. "Impeach that Democratic bastard" before the first fact is in. Jesus there are times when I hate being a Democrat. By the way, David, if Obama wants to send some mass murdering asshole "a message" there's no power on Earth that could "block him" from doing that. You're acting like Obama is another hothead cowboy from Texas who's just itchin' to invade someone but he was "blocked" before he had the chance. I don't like you, David Swanson. I think you're a liar who cannot be trusted and I'm not going to waste any more time reading the other 44 lies you fabricated about a man you probably voted for. This is NOT political disagreement. This is hate. Has David Swanson ever showed this much hate for a Republican? I'll bet the Pigboy wasn't this outraged about Obama's UN speech. Why do Democrats hate their heroes? TV Guide, thy name is whore a lot of TV and we don't want to miss out on premiers, special events etc. I'm dropping them - not because they've become a pillar of whoredom, but because there's so much free info on the Net, I think TV Guide will soon go away like the horse and buggy. In the out-today TV Guide, Damian from Homeland is on the cover and there's a blurb, "NCIS EXCLUSIVE - Cote de Pablo on why she quit." In you don't know, NCIS is one of TV's top money-making shows - maybe #1 of all time. Their reruns are often the highest rated cable show of the week, and it's on 6 times per day, so a major cast member leaving a money-train while the show is Number One becomes news, and here comes whore TV Guide with the "exclusive" on why Cote left. It tells you to turn to page 46 for the "exclusive" bombshell. When you get there, you see more reminders of how "exclusive" this bombshell is. And five paragraphs in, this gem is buried in the article: "As far as my decision to leave, that's a personal thing and I'd rather leave it at that." Really, whore TV Guide? That's the bombshell that no other pillar of whoredom could get? Oh well, at least you're not considered a valid news gathering organization. It should be a crime when those bastards lie to us. I don't have time to read Kos, TPM, The Nation, Mother Joes etc as much as I'd like, but it seems like every Obama article I read is not only crticial, there'a a good dose of "fuck that liar" in every paragraph I read. Am I Obama's last friend or does he have others? President Obama’s address to the UN General Assembly was such an astonishing string of brazen lies and falsehoods it must have had the assembled international delegates choking on their tea or coffee. Whether he was declaring that “together we have worked to end a decade of war” even as he was just blocked from unilaterally launching a war against Syria, or saying “we have limited the use of drones,” when his administration has upped their use from 51 strikes in Pakistan under the prior Bush administration to 323 so far under his own administration, ...it was all lies. FOX News isn't this tough on Obama. But for Americans, perhaps nowhere was his lying so blatant and obscene as when ... This is NOT political disagreement. This is hate. Has Dave Lindorf ever showed this much hate for a Republican? Why do Democrats hate their heroes so f-ing much? Send e-mail to Bart This Just In... Rambold's short sentence and the judge's comments about the young victim sparked national outrage and protests. The victim, Cherice Moralez, was 14 years old when the rape occurred in 2008. She took her own life shortly before her 17th birthday. Rambold, who was Moralez's teacher when he raped her, will be on probation for the next 14 years and 11 months. That will teach him not to rape 14 year olds. Just think how long he'd be in prison if they caught him growing pot?
