Obama said he and Rouhani discussed the standoff over Iran's nuclear program and directed their teams to negotiate a possible agreement in which Iran would forswear the ability to develop nuclear weapons. "While there will surely be important obstacles to moving forward, and success is by no means guaranteed, I believe we can reach a comprehensive solution," Obama said. The United States has said it will not allow Iran to develop the means to make nuclear weapons; Iran said its nuclear program is designed for peaceful energy programs. Rouhani confirmed the phone conversations in a series of Twitter messages, saying in one that "in regards to nuclear issue, with political will, there is a way to rapidly solve the matter." In another tweet, Rouhani told Obama: "I express my gratitude for your hospitality and your phone call. Have a good day Mr President." Just think of the slurs Democrats have hurled at Obama in the last 30 days. "Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize was a fucking joke." "Obama is nothing more than Cheney's third term." "Obama the evil warmonger needs to be impeached." I could cite a hundred more, but you get the point. ...and now he's opened the door to Iran, a very un-Cheney thing to do. Why do Democrats hate their heroes? Send e-mail to Bart Subject: Why do Democrats hate their heroes? Bart, I think a lot of liberals, especially the "professional" kind, want to prove they're "more liberal than thou". I've been watching this shit for a long time. When I was young, we couldn't stand Hubert Humphrey because he wasn't liberal enough (if only we had a Congress full of Humphreys today). I was guilty at the time, but over the last 45 years, I've gotten a little wiser. For god's sake, Obama's OUR guy. WE voted for him. He's smart, thoughtful, compassionate and practical. He sees the big picture and worries about the long haul. I'm as angry as you at these purist twerps who keep fragging the president. It makes them feel like big shots, but I'm not impressed. Here's to your health. Dan L Send e-mail to Bart Okie Fundies Support Medical Pot Should the will of the people count? Link According to latest SoonerPoll results, Oklahomans are ready to consider marijuana for medicinal purposes and decriminalization. The poll had support for medical marijuana at 71% and support for decriminalization at 57%The poll did not ask about legalization. When considering arrest for a marijuana offense, 64% said they should be treated instead of jailed. Under current Oklahoma law, possession of any amount can earn one up to a year in jail for a first offense and from two to 10 years for a second offense. Marijuana sales—of any amount —can earn a sentence of up to life in prison. The state’s largest cities were the most in support. In Oklahoma City and Tulsa, support for medical marijuana was higher than 75%, and support for decriminalization was at 67% in Tulsa and at 63% in Oklahoma City. Note: Tulsa us the Paris of Oklahoma. Oklahoma may be THE most backwards state in all of America, (Inhofe, Coburn, Largent, etc) so I don't see them showing signs of sanity when it comes to marijuana laws. Seems to me Colorado is the big winner here. People will move to Colorado over this issue, especially if you live in a backwards hellhole where possession of ANY amount can get you a year in a cage. People will also vacation in Colorado. Look for Colorado 's convention business to go boom. The states that do it the soonest are going to make the most money. Send e-mail to Bart Subject: Debt ceiling analogy Here's an analogy for the total morons who think government budgeting is anything like household budgeting (which it is not, unless you have a legal money printing press in your basement). But anyway, here it goes: The husband and wife fight over how their income should be spent, and on what. The husband wants to buy lap dances, beer and power tools ("the essentials"). The wife wants to buy food, clothing, medical care and pay the rent. They argue and argue, but they both finally agree to do everything the wife wants plus buy beer for the husband. But the husband goes out and racks up a few big nights at the titty bar anyway, paying with his credit card. He also buys some power tools and a cool Colt Python on credit. When the credit card bills come due, he goes to the wife and says "I am not going to pay the credit card bills unless you agree to spend less in the future on food and rent. Oh, and by the way, I turned down a raise at the office, because - after all - we don't have an earning problem, we have a spending problem." If you were in such a relationship, you would have the husband committed, or at least divorce his sorry ass. You certainly wouldn't agree to his stupid demands to forgo food for lap dances, power tools and handguns. Why should we treat Republicans any differently? Randy Randy, thanks for that, but I think I have a better/shorter analogy. We've just finished our meal at a restaurant and the waiter has handed us the check. Obama says we should pay the waiter but Ted Cruz says we should eat less food. Obama tries to explain that we can talk about that after we leave, but either way, we have to pay the waiter or we'll go to jail. Ted Cruz wants to go to jail. Ted Cruz is f-ing crazy and he now leads the GOP. Send e-mail to Bart What happens when a shady lawyer, a straight-laced pastor, a Mexican ex-con, a conflicted cop, a mouthy Italian, and a flamboyant, six-foot-six hitman all show up at the same party? Trouble. Big Trouble. alittlepartymovie.com Miss Teen USA
'Sextortion'
Girls, your web cam can be hacked Miss Teen USA and the perv, who she knew. Link A 19-year-old man was charged Thursday with hacking webcams at the home of Miss Teen USA Cassidy Wolf and other women to extort nude photos and videos from them, with authorities contending he forced several women to strip. Jared James Abrahams of Temecula surrendered to the FBI to face a charge of extortion that could send him to federal prison for up to two years, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said. He was later freed on $50,000 bail but a judge confined him to his family home, ordered him to wear a GPS monitor, and said he could only use the home computer for schoolwork, with software to be installed that will monitor its use. It's tough to be a woman these days. If you have a web cam, you have to cover the lens with black tape when you're not using it because guys WILL hack you and tape you walking around your house nude. When you check into a hotel, you should cover the peep hole with black tape. Sportcaster Erin Andrews had the bad luck to find out the hard way. When you go to a tanning booth, assume some pervert has a hidden camera and is watching you. If you swim at a friend's pool, assume your friend's pervert kid has a camera in the pool house. If you try on clothes at Sears or K-Mart, look for the hidden camera in the changing room. If you shower after a tennis match, look for the camera in the locker room - they're everywhere. If you go to a guy's place for sex, assume he's got hidden cameras in his bedroom and assume that video will be online before you even get home. Hi-def cameras are dirt cheap and they are the size of a lipstick, or smaller. Boys/men are pervs and you have NO IDEA how far they'll go. Send e-mail to Bart Subject: Obama doesn't need Congress to stop a government shutdown President Obama doesn't need to allow Congress to shut down the government if congress fails to pass a budget. The President has emergency powers he can use and he can keep America running but executive order and he should set a precedent and just do it. What am I talking about? Obama has the power against an attack without the consent of Congress under the theory that as commander in chief he has to protect America from imminent danger. Likewise in the case of a hurricane or flood he can act immediately to avoid any kind of national crisis. A government shutdown is a national crisis. Obama could just order the equivalent of a continuing resolution rather that allow America to be help hostage because Congress failed to do their job in time. Congress has a duty to pass a budget or pass a continuing resolution by October 1st. To deliberately shut down the government would be an act of treason against the American people. So since we are going to believe that no one would intentionally harm America by doing that then what we have is a temporary emergency and the President can constitutionally act in a temporary emergency just as he would in a natural disaster or an attack on America. This wouldn't replace the budget process. Congress still has a duty to pass a budget. But it would allow the country to continue to run until Congress completes its job. Obama not only has the power to do it, he has a duty to do it. Marc Perkel Send e-mail to Bart Shop

First they lie to you, and then they ask you for money. That’s the essence of the great Tea Party/Ted Cruz crusade to “defund” Obamacare, a political and constitutional impossibility. The question was settled, probably for good, when President Obama won re-election in 2012 and Democrats kept control of the Senate. Instead, it’s about TV face-time and harvesting donations from gullible voters misled both about the Affordable Care Act itself and Sen. Cruz’s nonexistent chances of ending it. Amid all the melodramatic TV chatter, the estimable blogger Digby puts it in terms everybody should understand. She has a friend in the insurance industry whose company has been getting thousands of calls from frightened policyholders who fear that the hullabaloo in Washington could result in their losing health coverage. “I asked her what calmed people down,” Digby writes “and she says she tells everyone to think about their high school civics class and remember that laws have to be passed by both houses and signed into law by the president. Without proselytizing at all, everyone immediately realizes what an absurd exercise in futility all this nonsense really is.” A narrow Republican majority in the House can’t void the Affordable Care Act any more than 54 Senate Democrats can force everybody in Oklahoma to eat broccoli. ha ha Anybody who tells you differently is a flim-flam artist. I live in Western Montana and there are times when it is hard to claim some of those Montanans in the East. They feel the same about me, I expect. Steve Pearce - "Only the rich deserve free food." Link Representative Steve Pearce (R-Pig) is facing charges of hypocrisy after it was revealed that he voted for $39 billion in cuts from the federal food stamp program, while spending over $1,000 in taxpayer money on meals for himself. Based on records from the Chief Administrative Office of the House, Progress Now New Mexico, charges that Rep. Pearce has used taxpayer-funded office accounts more than 30 times to pay for over $1,000 in meals in the past year, and is launching a campaign to pressure the congressman to reimburse his constituents for the charges. Considering that Pearce has been a vocal supporter of food stamp cuts — and recently told federal workers at risk of losing their jobs over the sequester to “Get efficient” and “Tighten your belt and you’ll find yourself a winner as these cuts happen” — his actions are the height of hypocrisy. I think every congress-person who votes to cut food stamps should, with his/her entire family, spend a week on food stamps and then tell us how easy "those freeloaders" have it. Subject: Mike Malloy Paul Link Mike Malloy, perhaps the most unhinged liberal on radio today, said he would provide the weapon necessary to stab Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, in the back, Newsbusters reported Wednesday. “And wing nut radio host Mark Levin said yesterday, the Republican leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, just stabbed Ted Cruz and Mike Lee in the back!” Malloy exclaimed. “Oh, what if that were true?” he asked, changing his metaphor into something of a liberal fantasy. “Oh my God! Mitch! I tell you what! I’ll make you a deal! I’ll provide the butcher knife,” he said. ha ha That last one is my favorite. Seth Strickland doesn't mind if Cruz is "murdered" as long as Malloy has "the courage" to do it hisself. Right-wingers are calling for Malloy's head, but they're missing the point: Mike could only be accused of "providing the knife" if Mitch the Bitch was guilty of murder. Is that what the right-wingers think their head Bitch is? Besides, "back-stabbing" isn't murder - it means the same thing as "being thrown under a bus." Whem Obama threw Rev Wright under the bus in 2008, even the stupidest of handjobs didn't call Obama a murderer because nobody died. Silly teabaggers have nothing substantive to whine about? The major difference between Kossacks and Freepers is that the later are afraid that Obama will send the Pakistani army in black helicopters to steal their lawn furniture while the former think he will use the NSA. Keep watching the President's back, Keith Think of the hundreds of lies Kos told to get the untested guy elected. Think of the thousands of lies they told about Hillary. Remember Kos published that phony poll that showed Hillary was trailing "none of the above?" At the time, Hillary was tied with Obama (sometimes in the lead) but whores like CNN constantly quoted Kos's phony poll to alert America that Hillary was "unelectable." Kos the king-maker was making a million dollars a month at the time (yes, of course I'm jealous) and he misused that power and it's hard to forgive him for that. Kos, Randi Rhodes, consortiumnews, Rachel Maddow - the list is very long - all told vicious lies (Like Bill and Hillary are racists!) to get Obama elected and then they turned on him the very first time he wasn't 100% in lockstep with conventional Democratic dogma. He is angry about the timidity of journalists in America, their failure to challenge the White House and be an unpopular messenger of truth. We're all unhappy about that, but why didn't Hersh complain when the whore media was so very busy blowing Der Monkey Fuhrer right before invading Iraq for no reason? Don't even get him started on the New York Times which, he says, spends "so much more time carrying water for Obama than I ever thought they would" – or the death of bin Laden. "Nothing's been done about that story, it's one big lie, not one word of it is true," he says of the dramatic US Navy Seals raid in 2011. You know, I'm OK with Obama crtics because I'm often one. But I always thought Hersh was sane, but something's come over him. Why not attack Obama with mere words, instead of vitriolic nuclear verbosity? Why not claim, "The White House sexed up the bin Laden story to make Obama look tough?" That might ring true with some people, but to say, "EVERY WORD of that raid was a lie? Really, Seymour? Everyone in this room is risking their careers and perhaps their very freedom on a "total lie?" Look at Hillary's face. Hersh claims she's FAKING concern to sell some lie about bin Laden. Why would Hersh throw away decades of credibility over such a crazy, outlandish claim? Send e-mail to Bart His career would've suffered less damage if Hersh said he'd seen Elvis, or had been abducted by aliens. This makes everything Hersh ever wrote suspect, and that's a sad thing. To make things worse, Hersh never really explained himself. Is he saying bin Laden is still alive? When you drop a bomb THAT big on a sitting president, you'd better be able to explain yourself but it seems Hersh has fallen victim to Obama Derangement Syndrome, the poor bastard. Until this massive fumble, I would've put Hersh in the Top Ten as journalists go, but now he's got all the credibility of George Zimmerman after shooting another unarmed Black kid. Subject: Last Issue's Hollywood Gossip answers Link Send e-mail to Bart NORML's Pro-Pot Superbowl AD? Does FOX believe in free speech? Link NORML is currently leading a contest sponsored by Intuit to have its ad appear during the Super Bowl. In a genius (at least originally) marketing move, Intuit decided to buy a $4 million, 30 second ad and allow a small business the chance to market its product. This was a two-fold win for Intuit – 1) The project itself creates a large social media buzz and draws more consumers to its company; and 2) It gives people a positive attribution toward Intuit, leading to more business. However, Intuit most likely was not prepared for a pro-marijuana legalization group to be leading the polls: “Intuit leadership is surely wringing their collective hands over the matter. Though marijuana isn’t as taboo a subject since its legal approval in varying states, it is the equivalent to a scarlet letter — albeit one tainted green — that their brand is now forced to wear. Such is the danger to brands who go the contest route,” stated branding expert Peter Madden. Go to NORML's web site and vote for their Superbowl ad. Send e-mail to Bart Subject: a bit offensive I find your criticism of David Swanson and Dave Lindorf's take on Obama's UN speech a bit offensive. You shouldn't because I was right on target. You imply that slamming a Democratic president is or should be taboo for those of us claiming to be liberal/progressive/whatever. The issue has nothing to do with not supporting a Democrat. It is about opposing the imperialistic war mongering policies of the government no matter who is pushing them. That is standing on principle not bashing a Democrat. You imply they didn't do the same with Bush etc. You couldn't be more wrong. They have been consistent in their criticism of US policy regardless of which party controlled the WH. Vince & Terry It's OK with me if someone criticizes Obama - I do it all the time, remember? But when I do it, do I scream in all caps, "YOU FUCKING LIAR!" at him? You can call that "standing on principle" if you like. I call it "carrying water for President Cruz." Even when they disagree with Obama, do they have to get so personal? Go back and read my very angry anti-Obama pot and poker rants. Do I scream "YOU FUCKING LIAR" at Obama? For some reason that's a Democratic trait. Back in the day, I listened to Randi Rhodes constantly and I promise you she never screamed, "that fucking whore" at Bush or Cheney - NOT ONCE. She also never accused Bush of trying to kill her - but with Hillary? No problem at all. Democrats save that special hate for their heroes. That puzzles me. There's a difference between a political disagreement and pure f-ing hate. Bottom line, criticize the POLICY all you want - I don't care.
