The Cheneys defended their elder daughter, Liz Cheney, a U.S. Senate candidate in Wyoming,
who on Sunday attacked her sister for being gay and wanting to live with someone she loves.
The Cheneys then attacked their younger, gay daughter, Mary Cheney, and her spouse for

There's no need to wonder if Miley was smoking real weed at the MTV Europe Music Awards
last week, because she confirmed that yes (the awards were held in Amsterdam), that was a real joint
full of marijuana she sparked up on stage after accepting the award for Best Video.
Oh my God, a pereformer with an intoxicant onstage?
Did you ever seen Frank Sinatra onstage without a cigarette AND glass of whiskey in his hand?
Did you ever seen Dean Martin perform without a cigarette AND glass of whiskey in his hand?
Did you know Jackie Gleason started every TV show by chugging 6 ounces of vodka?
Somehow, America survived those crisi but we're so terrinbly shocked
when Miley Cyrus does almost the same thing, legally, a full fifty years later.

There are probably millions of us who do not have a very positive view of the country we grew up in.
It's sort of like not believing in god - a lot of us believed in god before we grew up, since that seemed
to be the only view that anyone had whom we knew in Texas (and I am sure in Oklahoma too).
But we grew up, went to college and were exposed to different views and all of a sudden we realized
that there were lots of other people who had different views that the ones we had been indoctrinated
with from birth.
Similarly with the U.S. Everyone I knew as a kid and an adolescent believed that America could do no wrong.
But when we moved out of our little nest of true believers, we found out that this was wrong. It was only a
manifestation of the same sort of magical thinking that sometimes elevates patriotism into a blind, non-thinking,
lemming-like populace that will go along with anything their country does (My Country Right or Wrong).
In extreme cases, this blind patriotism leads to war crimes and even genocide (witness Germany before and
during World War II). So I think it is quite wrong to paint both Manning and Snowden with a nasty black brush
when they both released information that could possibly change this country into people who actually want to
know more about what their government does in our names and perhaps even be able to exert a minimal
amount of control over what if does in our names. Accurate information is always good in my view.

Possessing an ounce of pot in California is an “infraction” punishable by a $100 fine.
In other words, state law treats pot smoking as a transgression akin to jaywalking.
Yet growing and selling marijuana are felonies that can send you to prison for years.
If consuming pot is not a crime, how can it be a crime to help someone consume it?
Tat is a question voters will confront next fall if the Pot Initiative qualifies for the ballot.
The initiative, which would eliminate all state and local penalties, instructs the legislature
to regulate cannabis “in a manner analogous to beer and wine.” That is similar to the Colorado
policy and the Washington policy, where the state liquor board will license the 2014 pot shops.
The main criticism of the dispensaries—that they cater largely to recreational consumers who
fake symptoms to get pot—actually counts in favor of broader legalization. If medical pot is a
charade that amounts to de facto legalization, what is there to fear from making it official?
I agree. If "everyone's" getting pot now in those twenty legal states, and there's no increase in crime
or divorces, etc - why not legalize it and get the tax revenue that will help balance the budget?
Give the voters the freedom they asked for AND raise $55 million, Colorado's 2014 extimate.
BTW, we got some bad news about the Freedom Fest.
It seems Colorado is only selling low-content pot to the public.

highlighting a portion of the committee questioning Homeland Security's Roberta Stempfley,
who confirmed at least 16 attacks on the Affordable Care Act’s portal Healthcare.gov website in 2013.
Roberta Stempfley highlighted one successful attack that is designed to deny access to the website called
a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack. A DDoS attack is designed to make a network unavailable
to intended users, generally through a concerted effort to disrupt service such as repeatedly accessing the
servers, saturating them with more traffic than the website is designed to handle.
Right wingers have been distributing the link to the necessary tools to perform the attacks on the
Healthcare.gov website through social networking, as pointed out by Information Week, and other websites .
The name of the attack tool is called, "Destroy Obama Care!"

Muslims took it over, added the minarets, and it is now a mosque. We learned about it in Art History.

Bart, that’s a photo taken February 19, 1945 as the Marines hit the beaches on Iwo Jima.
That’s the Famous Mount Suribachi in the background. I made a few trips there in 1965
while stationed in Japan. Climbed Suribachi where the immortal flag picture was taken and
also explored the caves. That was only 20 years after the end of the war so much of the island
…except for the burial grounds was not much changed. We found unexploded ordnance as well.
The Air Force had a small contingent stationed there which we resupplied. The Coast Guard also
had a LORAN set-up as well. I believe we returned the island to Japan in 1968…
