The Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort (on Mt. Charleston, 1 hour west of Las Vegas)
has been in business for more than 50 years!  That's crazy.  I know it's hard to believe but
we've been here forever and we love it.  We love being the answer to that question,
"What is there to do in Las Vegas other than gamble?"  We love hearing, "There's snow in Las Vegas?" 
And we will always be here for something to do for those who live and visit in Vegas.
 
Even though we've been in business that long, every year when the temperatures get cold around
October there is always excitement in the air.  And then....there's always that first day of snowfall. 
Last night was that time.   Some precipitation moved in from Southern California and gave us a
total of 7 inches for our first snowfall of the 2013-14 season.  Fantastic!  We are all excited! 
 
Our planned opening date is November 29th.  But you never know, if this keeps up we might
have to open early.  Then Mother Nature will show that Las Vegas can have an awesome winter
wonderland and fresh snow only an hour from the glitz of the casinos.
 
Every winter we love being the perfect getaway from from the crazy casinos, over the top clubs,
and gluttonous buffets.  Fresh air, fresh powder and friends are all you need for a day of fun in the snow.

Bart, JFK was killed by Allen Dulles, Curtis LeMay and Charles Willoughby.
Dulles and LeMay hatched the plan, and Willoughby carried it out. JFK fired Dulles as head
of the CIA, and LeMay (who's answer to everything was drop bombs) had an intense hard-on
to nuke Russia into oblivion. The plan was hatched after JFK announced our unilateral ceasing
of above ground nuclear tests, and his intent to open disarmament negotiations with the Soviets,
at his American University commencement speech in June '63.

JFK's peace initiatives sent these fuck-sticks into a tizzy. Charles Willoughby, a fascist prick and
MacArthur's chief of intelligence during WWII, was born in Europe, rose to the rank of Major General
in the US Army during WWII, and in the 50's worked for Spain's fascist dictator Francisco Franco.
In November '63, five months after the speech, Willoughby arranged for three Spanish sharp shooters
to go to Dallas, to kill the Peacenik President that they so hated. These three mother fuckers ushered
in decades of hostility and militarism that needn't have been. There is a good book about it all called
"The man who knew too much" by Dick Russell.

Hi Bart--
Here's the thing about "asking for donations." 
The only reason those market folks and the park guard wanted her to be a member and have a license
is that by charging for the mistletoe, Madison is, in effect, offering a contract with no way to back it up if some
poor soul gets sick by mistreating the mistletoe, and her membership would have deferred any liability on her part.

By asking for donations, her customers get the same product for the same price (i.e., free mistletoe, your $3
donation is appreciated!), and everyone is happy and the park/market is off the hook.  It's not about breaking
the law, it's about staying within it.  Musicians do this all the time--we play in peoples' living rooms for strongly
"suggested donations," and the hosts' homeowner's insurance covers any liability.

Incidentally, for living room concerts, there's also a No Advertising rule. 
That's easily accomplished by offering "personal invitations." 
Everyone's happy, and no one is breaking any laws.

Pope's Committee on Child Rape
Is he serious about stopping the decades of abuse?

The Vatican is to set up a special committee to improve measures to protect children against
sexual abuse within the Church, Cardinal Sean Patrick O'Malley, said on Thursday.

"Up until now there has been so much focus on the judicial parts of this but the pastoral part is
very, very important. The Holy Father is concerned about that," O'Malley told reporters, referring
to Pope Francis.  The commission of experts would "study these issues and bring concrete
recommendations" for the Pope and the Vatican, he said.

"Continuing decisively along the lines undertaken by Pope Benedict XVI, and accepting a proposal
presented by the Council of Cardinals, the Holy Father has decided to establish a specific Commission
for the protection of minors, with the aim of advising Pope Francis on the Holy See’s commitment to
the protection of children and in pastoral care for victims of abuse,” O’Malley said in a statement.


Is this the new Pope's first misstep?
Does he really need a committee to tell him what's wrong and how to fix it?

I have an idea - how about a zero tolerance policy for child-raping sons of bitches?

Markos himself is pretty smart and for a decade has done a creditable job of picking good people for his team. 
The sudden, much remarked upon collapse of the netroots as a political influence can hardly be laid at his feet.
The goat-feltching hysterical stupidity of his site commenters, now that is a different matter. 

When Markos writes that NSA spying is a serious issue among other serious issues, the hamsters in the brain
of one JesseCW turns it into "Did you know Markos thinks NSA spying is OK because it's being done by white guys? 
Huh?  Huh?  Huh?"

I fish the internets looking for insight and information.  For fifteen years, Bartcop has delivered. 
With wanton gibberish of the sort now dished up by the Kossacks, it's no wonder that ad revenue is down;
I can only wonder at what percentage of the vaunted "two million clicks a day" come from spammers
and those who point and laugh.

grabbed her mother and said, "We should go to the back of the house." They left, and the Rude Pundit
launched into a loud, extended attack on the fat white fascist. In his early 20s and with even less of
a filter than he has now, you did not fuck with the Rude Pundit when it came to South Africa.
