"This is the first time I've ever written the following words: The car to beat, the best car in its class, is a Cadillac. The new CTS takes it to the Germans so thoroughly – with sights set squarely on BMW's 5-Series, Audi's A6, and Mercedes' E-Class, it should've been introduced on a beach in Normandy." -- Ezra Dyer, a TIME Magazine car writer, Link Send e-mail to Bart GOP Hates the NSA ...Sometimes "Sometimes" being when they're not in charge by Gene Lyons NationalMemo.com If Big Brother wants you, he’s got you. This disconcerting fact of modern life has been true more or less since the invention of the camera, the microphone and the tape recorder. When J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI wanted to dig the dirt on Martin Luther King, they bugged his hotel rooms and infiltrated his inner circle with hired betrayers - the technological wizardry was secondary. I am moved to these observations by the fact that the RNC has now joined The Snowdenista Left in pretending to be outraged by something they manifestly do not fear. The same GOP that rationalized torture and cheered the Bush’s warrantless wiretaps as recently as 2006 now denounces the NSA data collection as “an invasion into the personal lives of American citizens that violates the right of free speech and association afforded by the First Amendment....” Keeping a no-names database of phone numbers called, date, time and duration threatens privacy rights, although actual wiretapping evidently did not. Never mind that Republicans in Congress approved it. It’s easy to suspect that for the RNC, it’s all about who’s in the White House. The End. Nobody makes more sense than Gene Lyons. Send e-mail to Bart Our New Pope, The Rock Star I wish the lazy-fuck press would stop calling Pope Francis "a rock star." Real rock stars do tons of cocaine and they bang groupies five at a time. J-Lo, Keith Urban and Harry Connick are NOT rock stars. One's a Latino singer/dancer, one's a country star and one's a crooner. And it goes further than that. The Beatles were POP stars, not rock stars. Clooney is not a rock star, neither is Brad Pitt. To be a ROCK star, you MUST be in rock. No Beach Boys, no Backstreet Boys and no Elvis. You miiight stretch a point and say Metallica are rock stars, but they're the Kings of Metal and you can only worship one god. Same for the Rolling Stones, they are a "rock n roll" band, like The Crickets. A famous Nazi once said, "Words mean things" and he was right. Rock stars rock - end of story. Send e-mail to Bart Crooked Chris Christie - Again! Local paper calls for yet another investigation "I'm so crooked ...even by New Jersey standards." Link If crooked Chris Christie didn't already have enough problems, the editorial page of the The Star-Ledger of Newark has set its sights on yet another incident involving accusations about his administration's ethical standards. The incident in question took place in 2010 and centers on a former local prosecutor who says that he the crooked Christie administration stopped him from pursuing an indictment against a county sheriff and ultimately fired him over the case. The New York Times wrote about it last October: Prosecutors sent tremors through rural Hunterdon County when they announced a sweeping indictment of the local Republican sheriff and her two deputies in 2010. The 43-count grand jury indictment read like a primer in small-town abuse of power. It accused Sheriff Deborah Trout of hiring deputies without conducting proper background checks, and making employees sign loyalty oaths. Her deputies, the indictment charged, threatened one of their critics and manufactured fake police badges for a prominent donor to Gov. Chris Christie. When the charges became public, the indicted undersheriff, Michael Russo, shrugged it off. Crooked Chris Christie, he assured an aide, would “have this whole thing thrown out,” according to The Hunterdon County Democrat. That sounded like bluster. Then the state killed the case. Send e-mail to Bart Quotes "I will break you in half! If you ever do that to me again I'll throw you off this balcony. You're not man enough, you're not man enough. I'll break you in half. Like a boy." -- NY Rep. Michael Grimm (R-Violent) threatebneing the life of a reporter when the reporter asked about his campaign finances Video "I'm a big, tough guy, I threaten violence whenever a reporter axes me a question." I've never heard that expression, "Break you in half - like a boy." Is that something they do a lot in New York? It sounds very sexual, "breaking a boy in half" sounds like you're bending him over a chair. I checked and Yes, He's Catholic. I wonder how many young boys this violent piece of shit has bent over a chair? Send e-mail to Bart Subject: I'm fed up with Obama Bart, After listening to President Obama’s State of the Union address, I’m fed up. I’m fed up with his empty promises, his lies and his liberal agenda. Are you? America can’t afford more spending, more debt and more government intrusion in our lives. Actually, spending is down, the budget deficit is down and taxes for regular families are down. Nobody knows that because the you-know-whos refuse to list the you-know-whats. If you’re fed up too, pitch in $16 right now to stop President Obama and his reckless liberal agenda. Thanks, Mike Shields RNC Chief of Staff Mike, how come you guys never LIST Obama's lies? You always say, "He keeps lying" but we never get any specifics. Did anybody see McCain's Teabagger-accuser Tim Schwartz on Chris Matthews Monday? Chris Matthews kept saying, "On what issues is McCain too Leftist?" and the guy couldn't answer. All he could say is "McCain has a history of voting with Obama and against the GOP," but he refused to name any votes when McCain, who has a 92% Nazi rating, was "too liberal." I've said it 1,000 times: If you feel STRONGLY about something, you should be able to defend it. Send e-mail to Bar Dozens will see it! Gay Trouble in Oklahoma
So far Right, it's helping the Left Link An interesting aspect of living in Oklahoma – one of if not the reddest state in the Union – is that I’m observing a test tube for the farthest right of the right-wing experiments. Legislation goes through undiluted by the need to compromise, but those combustible elements can sometimes blow up in the faces of the mad chemists of the Right. For instance, the 2004 legislature placed a constitutional amendment on the November ballot defining marriage as between a man and woman. On Jan. 14, 2014, the amendment was ruled unconstitutional in a scathing opinion by Federal Judge Terence Kern, who called the law “arbitrary” and “irrational.” Judge Kern’s ruling came days after a similar finding by Utah Federal Judge Robert J. Shelby, who struck down that state’s anti-gay-marriage law which was approved by Utah voters in the same 2004 election. Thus, two states – considered the vanguard of the anti-gay movement – may very well be the instruments of its demise. Utah and Oklahoma find themselves in this position, not through any gay conspiracy, but rather the result of their playing around with explosive right-wing notions that – without any buffering from political compromise – led to dangerous excesses and to an unintended reaction, the advancing of gay marriage toward national acceptance. Woo Hoo! Oklahoma's a leader in the American gay movement. Woo Hoo! Send e-mail to Bart Subject: Sbowden, yak, yak, yak... Bart, you’re stooping to Rush’s level now. Yak, yak, yak... Yak, yak, yak.. you never were...A Progressive.. Yak, yak, yak... Justin Justin, you seem very desperate to get into a name-calling contest with me. I have some experience at that, but I'd rather pummel evil Nazis than misguided Lefties. I'm pretty sure you're past the "facts matter" phase, but according to DU, America is TIED on the NSA and, by 56%-32% they want Obama to pursue a criminal case against the traitor. So isn't it time for you to stop pretending that only radical Cheney lovers agree with Obama? You're in the 32% minority, so stop pretending most people agree with you. Send e-mail to Bart Subject: Republicans can't win? The section about this gay republican guy quitting ended with the statement that the republicans can't win. This is erroneous. They can win. They could even if nobody voted for them, using voter suppression, FOX, and the techniques of electronic vote flipping. No one in the media wants to dwell on this for fear of being labeled a conspiracy nut. In the November 2012 issue of Harper's magazine there's a very well written story about this. One of the assertions in it is that Obama beat Romney BADLY, that Chuck Hagel, before being elected to office presided over a company called Election Systems and Software and was elected in a very suspicious way, and that the late Mike Connell had a contract to be an election-night "man in the middle" for the republicans. The late Mr. Connell, you may recall, died in an accidental, but timely, plane crash immediately before he was to testify in Washington about the methods used to elect the Jolly Rancher/fighter pilot G.W. Bush, in Ohio, I think, but with the internets being what they are, it could have been any, or all, of the states. The story alluded to the famous Karl Rove meltdown on the night of the last election, when he knew better than the exit polls how the election was going to turn out. Harold That might've been true in 2000 and 2004, I don't think it's true any longer. First, the Black Democrat won the last two elections so their scheme's not working very well. Second, the gap between today's voters and GOP bad ideas is wider - by far - than it was in 2012. Still, we have to be vigilant with these bastards. They want to win reeeeeeal bad whereas the Dems are just OK with winning. Send e-mail to Bart Aspen Running out of Snow Global warming ugliness, once again "The snow is lying to help Democrats!" Link The ski season is a month shorter than it was 50 years ago. It will be nearly two weeks shorter still by 2030, and it will continue to shrink in subsequent decades. In the spring, wet slab avalanches – in which an entire slope slides slowly down a mountain, devouring the trees, rocks, and ski lifts in its path – will become increasingly common. The slope most prone to avalanches lies directly above Spar Gulch, an intermediate ski trail that is one of Aspen Mountain's main thoroughfares, and one of the only routes off the mountain. The beginner slopes will become pockmarked with rocks and turf, requiring snow machines to make up the difference. By 2100, should current conditions persist, there will no longer be any snow at the base of Aspen Mountain. So don't bother to learn how to ski, kids. There won't be any snow left by the time you get there. He is such a jerk! He is a repeat offender!” "Sometimes if you are smart in your debate, you persuade someone who otherwise had disagreed with you," Greta write. "And then there are the creeps who take cheap shots because they are too ignorant and small to engage in an important discussion.” ”No one should pay any attention to them – they are not persuasive, they are noise, I just roll my eyes and wonder what is going on in his head!” Send e-mail to Bart . But sticking with Butterfingers Romo at QB Link Not-yet-fired Coach Jason Garrett also addressed the addition of Linehan and the stripping of the play-calling duties from Callahan. “The opportunity to add someone of Scott Linehan’s experience will help and it will give us a great chance to build upon the strides we made offensively last year,” Garrett said. Linehan’s arrival apparently won’t mean the departure of offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Bill Callahan. Per Ed Werder of ESPN, the Cowboys are keeping Callahan because he’d become head coach if Garrett is fired during the 2014 season. Yep. Everything is normal and fully functional with the Cowboys. ha ha You can't make this shit up! Thanks, Jerry! Send e-mail to Bart Today's Wildlife Photo Link Real or photoshop?
