Rejecting
Reality in Iraq
by Robert Parry
consortiumnews.com
Excerpt:
Bush and his advisers have put ideology and wishful
thinking ahead of rationality and realism.
This tendency explains why so many pieces of
evidence cited to support the Iraq invasion have
proven false and why so many claims of progress
have proven overly optimistic.
There always was a cockiness among Bush and his
Republican allies that they could bend American
perceptions of reality by putting out their message
aggressively and shouting down any dissenting voices.
Given the potent right-wing news media - and the
timid and complicit mainstream press - the neocon
strategy of flooding the process with alarming
pseudo-information worked wonders in 2002, convincing
many Americans that there was a desperate need
to invade Iraq.
It turned out, however, that Bush's power to impose
his will on adversaries faded the farther away
he got from the booming voices of Rush Limbaugh
and Bill O'Reilly.

Third-party
bid could shake up '08 race
It's their turn to split the vote
Link
Excerpt:
In an unpredictable 2008 presidential race, the
prospect of a viable third-party candidacy
-- particularly a self-financed bid by billionaire
Michael Bloomberg -- could be the biggest wild card of all.
Reports that Bloomberg, New York's Republican
mayor, is willing to spend a big chunk of his personal fortune
-- perhaps as much as $1 billion -- on a White
House run set off a new round of speculation about his intentions
and his possible impact on the November 2008
election.
The speculation was egged on by Sen. Chuck Hagel
a conservative Republican and Iraq war opponent who also is
considering an independent bid and had dinner
with Bloomberg recently. Hagel openly hinted about joining the mayor
on a high-octane, third-party ticket that could
reshape the political landscape and jolt the traditional U.S. two-party
system.
"It's a great country to think about -- a New
York boy and a Nebraska boy to be teamed up leading this nation,"
Hagel said earlier this week on CBS.
Can I get an "Amen!" for the split
GOP vote?
And since Hagel and Bloomberg aren't "Christian conservatives,"
how about a THIRD GOP ticket to splinter them apart even further?
They brought this on themselves with their blind Monkey worship.
...and no, Ralph, this isn't a signal to you.

First, I want to send you a delayed thanks for
the bumperstickers.
It's been a treat listening to your archived
shows and I think your 'new' shows are terrific.
I think the shorter more frequent shows are working
out great
Of all of the radio bits, I think the story of
the cat and the cure had me laughing so hard I nearly peed my pants.
Regarding the best rants, you do so many great
ones, I'm not sure which was my favorite. I'd have to say
anything covering the newscasters and their conservative/whore
bias is excellent.
Thanks for all you do.

Subject: Bloggers are replacing
network news
Network news channels like ABC and CBS are wondering
why they losing to war on news to the bloggers.
They can't understand why their market share
is dropping. Maybe it's because they don't know what news is.
For example ABC and CBS have yet to report the
power struggle between Gonzales and then Attorney General
John Ashcroft over the warrantless domestic wiretapping,
Acting Attorney General James Comey testified before
Congress that he prevented Gonzales from pressuring
Ashcroft in his hospital bed from reauthorizing Bush's illegal
wiretapping. This is news that is all over the
blogs but is being ignored by ABC and CBS.
People like me are turning to the bloggers for
real news and leaving the network news to those
who are more interested in celebrity gossip than
what is happening in the world.

Excerpt:
Though they constantly say they loathe illegal
immigration, the GOP has happily turned the other way
while their corporate buddies exploit illegals
for profit. But, with an election on the horizon the situation
has snowballed into something ugly, and they're
being forced to do something not-eactly-hawkish about it.
Could the neocons have avoided this mess?
I think so. I think the GOP's habitual refusal
to address the federally mandated minimum wage, along with
the greed that drove their constituents to nurture
illegal immigration, has brought the right wing to this.

Hey, Bart!
Just doing a little catching up on the radio shows!
Man, that beat down of dead-beat DelGiorno is a riot.
I've listened to it about six or seven times
just to savor every last well-deserved invective. I think you forgot
to use my favorite word for people like Mike
DelGiorno - Hypocrite. That one word alone better sums up
what almost everyone on the Right is all about:
"Do As I Say, Not As I Do."
The funny thing is, you could have taken any sound
bite from any right-winger, drop it in place of
DelGiorno's audio, leave your comments in place
- and your entire rant would still make perfect sense.
Show 117 with the details of your Dallas road
trip was a nice balance and compliment to the Show 116.
Your Visa story, although upsetting for a variety
of reasons, was ultimately hilarious. Who hasn't been
through a situation like the one you described.
I think we've all had to deal with low-level, empty-headed
automatons at a credit card company at some point.
Too funny.
Keep up the great work. Your website continues
to be funny, informative, and the best
political commentary on the web (for those
of us with an IQ of 64).

Why I hate
Barry Bonds
by liar, thief, whore and fraud George Will
thewhorepost
Excerpt:
In a few games in 1969, the "Miracle Mets" had
an all-Mobile outfield. Five Hall of Famers were raised here
-- Satchel Paige, Willie McCovey, Ozzie Smith,
Billy Williams and Hank Aaron. As Barry Bonds continues
his gimpy, joyless pursuit of such glory as he
is eligible for, consider the odyssey of Mobile's greatest native son.
George Will likes baseball and he'll suck anything with "GOP" written
on it.
I'm so old, I remember 1998.
George Will wrote 30 columns a week on how Clinton's immorality was
destroying the country,
how this was a nation conceived under the rule of law, and no president
was above the law when
it came to the details of his horsing around with the young thong flasher
with presidential kneepads..
Now, Bush has screwed America to death in every way imaginable, and
George Will, political whore,
thinks it's important we all think about baseball instead of the shitty
mess HIS HERO made of America.
3500 dead, maybe 60,000 amputees, Bush staying the course and George
f-ing Will wants to
scream at the black man for violating some invisible handjob baseball
rule that was never on the books.
Why don't the Democrats point to bastards
like George Will to show what liars
they are?
George Will KNOWS that Clinton's sex life didn't matter,
and George Will KNOWS that Bush's oil hardon has killed 3500
soldiers and maimed 60,000 more,
but he's a dirty, lousy, scumbag, douchebag Republican whore for hire,
like they all are, so he says,
"Baseball is more important than the dying
soldiers!"
Nevermind what the president is doing!
We need to stand behind George Bush
- right or wrong,
no matter how many thousands of military
familes are destroyed,
no matter how many hundreds of billions
this bloody quagmire is costing us,
the president is our leader and our
duty is to stand behind him..."
...and the Democrats remain silent on Will's overt hypocrisy
so he gets away with this shit year after year after year after f-ing
year.
How gutless and sacless can a majority party be?
Sometimes, I think *I* could do a better job...

Subject: Hillary and the others
Hi Bart,
I just wanted to say that Obama came to Atlanta
for a FREE rally. Edwards came to Atlanta for FREE
to speak at our annual JJ Dinner (which is a
democratic fundraiser but he shook "regular" people's hands for free).
Hillary comes the following weekend and charges
$75-1000 for a fundraiser.
Howard Dean comes to Atlanta the same weekend
and they charge $1000 for a visit with the man.
How can a normal everyday people ever hope to
meet the candidates they are going to vote for?
I'm beginning to believe the polls are influenced
by the media hype! What do you think?
You're the best Bart!
Joann L.
Joann, how does Obama raise money with free rallies?
As you know, I like Obama, but experience tells
us what to expect.
If he wins the nomination, the Nazi hate machine
will ask,

negro named Hussein?"
