"My confusion...is over Obama's negotiating
tactics. In February, he cleared the way for more nuclear power plants. Today,
he opens up coastal drilling. In other words, Obama has already effectively given
Republicans what they wanted on energy. What is he getting in return?" -- Steve Benen, Link
They tell us in 2008, Obama played a lot of poker on the campaign
plane.
My question is - did he ever win?
He makes Jack trading the cow for magic beans seem clever.
Excerpt: Top Republicans are increasingly worried that
GOP candidates this fall might be burned by a fire
that's roaring through the conservative base:
demand for the repeal of Obama's new health care law.
It's fine to criticize the health law and the
way Democrats pushed it through Congress (without a single
GOP vote) these party leaders say. But focusing
on its outright repeal carries two big risks.
Repeal is politically and legally unlikely, and
grass-roots activists may feel disillusioned by a failed crusade.
More important, say strategists from both parties,
a fiercely repeal-the-bill stance might prove far less popular
in a general election than in a conservative-dominated
GOP primary, especially in states such as Illinois and California.
Democrats are counting on that scenario. They
say more Americans will learn of the new law's benefits
over time and anger over its messy legislative
pedigree will fade. For months, Democrats have eagerly
catalogued GOP candidates who pledge to repeal
the health care law, vowing to make them pay in November.
Republican leaders are stepping cautiously, wary
of angering staunchly conservative voters bent on repealing
the new law. In recent public comments, they
have quietly played down the notion of repealing the law while
emphasizing claims that it will hurt jobs, the
economy and the deficit.
It's one thing to fight the law getting passed, taking health care away
from 40M people is another.
Can the Democrats once again find a way to screw up a sure thing?
"If Sarah Palin ends up as the Republican nominee,
she'll get independents, because the Sarah Palin who ends up as the nominee will have
figured out how to win independents.
(What?) I think the idea that our pseudo-intellectuals get to
define for us who is "the authoritative voice," having repudiated Goldwater and Reagan is kind of funny."
-- Newt, saying the best and brightest of the GOP are fools,
Link
Newt, Goldwater was a little before my time
but we all know Reagan was a complete idiot.
Reagan was Bush without the take-over-the-world
crime spree.
Why do you consistently nominate the dumbest
hammer in the bag?
What do you have against people with brains?
And who's going to play Cheney to Palin's
Monkey Fuhrer?
You?
Willow Palin and her friends allegedly broke into
an empty house and partied,
causing more than $20,000 in alleged damage to
the house which was for sale.
Was Willow charged with a crime? Not exactly.
According to sources close to the Alaska State
troopers there was a secret meeting.
This meeting took place between the Palin and
the juvenile justice department.
Directly after this secret meeting, word came
down to the juvenile justice probation officer,
Chris Evans, that ONLY the boys who had participated
would be charged with the crime.
The girls would only be identified as “witnesses”
and face no criminal penalties.
How is this being received by some of the “Law
and Order”-types up in Alaska?
This has made the State Troopers and the juvenile
justice department very unhappy.
But there was nothing they could do because the
Palins had connections..

Excerpt: Obama announced he was opening up over 500,000
square miles of US coastal waters to oil and gas exploitation
for the first time in over 20 years.
The move, a reversal of Obama's early campaign
promise to retain a ban on offshore exploration, appeared
aimed at winning support from Republicans in
Congress for new laws to tackle global warming.
Has our guy learned nothing?
Why does he always give in and surrender his lunch money before the
bully asks for it?
Why does he think the bastards will ever agree with him on anything?
Why is he still trying?
It seemed like he gave up trying to please them when he made those recess
appointments,
and then the very next week he goes back into insta-surrender mode
- why?
Don't forget that if you're "saved", you can
telepathically send your supposed regret vibe
to the Cosmic Jewish Zombie and receive an all-encompassing
"get out of Hell free" card.
Doesn't matter how many children you raped, doctors
you killed, businesses you pillaged,
wars you started, or lies you told. It's kind
of like a giant soul douche.

The trick is, you have to be really sorry or it doesn't "take."
But if you're on your deathbed, you've got nothing to lose.
"That is an outrage. I will pay Mr. Snyder's
obligation. I am not going to let this injustice

(He's rich) after a dead soldier's dad was ordered
to pay
the 'God Hates Fags' military funeral protestor's court costs,
Link
Their mistake was taking these handjobs to court.
I think fists or baseballs bats would've been more persuasive.
I'm not saying the God Hates Fags handjobs should be killed,
but a medium-sized ass-kicking might persuade them not to show
up next time.
What jury is going to hold a grieving military father and family
responsible for a few bruises?
"The D.C. GOP 'leadership' has been a problem
for a long, long time. Michael Steele is the symptom.
Beltway-itis is the disease."' -- Michelle Malkin, (R-Batshit),
Link
"At a time when regular Americans are
struggling, a little humility and discretion are in order on the part of Republicans,
especially those serving as party leaders." -- Carol Platt Fibber, Link
"How much will this Steele chairmanship
cost the RNC in lost donations?" -- Allapundit, Link
"Has this kind of thing been approved by RNC
officials in the past?" -- Penny Nance, president of the conservative Concerned
Women for America, Link
No, this is what happens when you give power to the Black
man.
Before Michael Tom Steele, there was no corruption in the
GOP.
There was no theft and there was no sexual perversion,
either.
It alllll happened after the Black guy took power.
Moral of the story? Rush is right. Them niggers will fuck you up every time.
Excerpt: The Catholic Church is spending Holy Week practicing
the unholy art of spin. Complete with crown-of-thorns imagery,
the church has started an Easter public relations
blitz defending a pope who went along with the perverse culture of protecting
molesters and the church’s reputation rather
than abused - and sometimes disabled and disadvantaged - children.
The church gave up its credibility for Lent. Holy Thursday and Good Friday are now becoming
Cover-Up Thursday and Blame-Others Friday...
In his blog, Archbishop Dolan blasted church critics
while stating: "The Church needs criticism; we want it; we welcome it;
we do a good bit of it ourselves," adding: "We
do not expect any special treatment...so bring it on." Right.
Demonize gays, as Karl Rove did in 2004.
In an ad in The Times on Tuesday, Bill Donohue,
the Catholic League president, offered this illumination:
"The Times continues to editorialize about the
'pedophilia crisis', when all along it’s been a homosexual crisis.
Eighty percent of the victims of priestly
sexual abuse are male and most of them are post-pubescent. While homosexuality does not cause predatory
behavior, and most gay priests are not molesters,
most of the molesters have been gay."
Donohue is still talking about the problem as
an indiscretion rather than a crime.
If it mostly involves men and boys, that’s partly
because priests for many years had unquestioned access to boys.
I don't get that part that's underlined.
Donohue keeps saying 80%
of the victims are older kids or adults?
Then why aren't they kicking the priest's ass
when he tries to fondle them?
If these priests want to play grab-ass with each other, it's a mockery
of the vows
they claim they believe in - but it's not a crime.
Molesting kids IS a crime
so Donahue changes the subject every chance he gets.
Bill, when you little, did you ever think you'd grow up to be the guy
on TV
who explained why child rape isn't really as bad as the victims say
it is?
And if there is a God (for the sake of argument) how's He going to feel
about your efforts to protect and defend these ruthless child rapers?
I understand this God has a temper worse than Bugsy Seigel.
"Caving in on offshore drilling is presumably
meant to get conservative support for climate legislation.
...because that worked so well with the health-care bill?" -- Monica Potts, Link
"I don't understand this at all. Increased
coastal drilling would be a small price to pay in exchange for actual congressional
votes for an overall energy package that shifts us to a low-carbon economy over time.
But any price is too high a price to pay in exchange for nothing at all. This isn't the
greatest environmental crime in human history, but it sure does seem like poor legislative
strategy." -- Matthew Yglesias, Link
"The LA Times refers to this as a bargaining
chip in the climate bill debate, but I see it more like showing your cards before
the end of the hand. Why would you let Republicans know about a pre-compromised offshore
drilling regime, so they can push for even more? This won't garner one Republican vote
any more than compromising the health care bill garnered any Republican votes. If this
was the result of a negotiation, fine, but this comes BEFORE the negotiation." -- David Dayen, Link
"Short of sending Sarah Palin back to Alaska
to personally club polar bear cubs to death, Obama could not have come up with a
more efficient extinction plan for the polar bear." -- Brendan Cummings, of the Center
for Biological Diversity, Link
"It's long past time for Obama to stop delaying
American energy production off all our shores and start listening to the American
people who want an "all of the above" strategy to produce more American energy and create more
jobs -- Boner, dumping on Obama who,
once again, wants the snarling dogs to like him, Link
"Dear Barack, you could rescue a cancer-stricken
child with armloads of kittens from alligator-infested quicksand and Boner
would say it was wrong and that you are defying the will of the American People." -- leftzone,
Link
Why can't our president learn?
What's blocking him from remembering the 99 other times the snarling
dogs bit him?
"I haven't given up on Republicans. I do believe
that there are Republicans of good conscience who want to work together on issues,
we want to continue to do that...our view is to keep plugging away and ultimately I believe more and more
Republicans are going to come to the conclusion that, that it is better politics to work on our problems
than it is to work on the reelection process every single day." -- David Axelrod, Link
Is Axelrod the reason Obama keeps trying to make friends with
the dogs that bite?
How can Axelrod possibly think there are
"Republicans of good conscience who want
to work together on issues"
when the bastards vote against their own bills to deny Obama a single Republican
vote?
The sons of bitches vote against their own
interests so they can go back home and say,
"Obama did this on his own - without our imput. He's
ruining America and Armageddon is just 24 hours away"
I always ask the question: “How much would
I have to pay you to be black for the rest of your life?”
A college prof who used to ask this in a class
got an average of $1million as the discrepancy
between being white and being black in America.
(If I can find the ref, I’ll send it.)
Telling, that Shirley’s kind of whites claim there’s
no inequality, or that the blacks get all the breaks,
and yet you can’t pay white college students
less than a million bucks to be black.
Hmmm…
Kelley W
Chris Rock used to do a bit where he'd say,
"I'm rich - how many of you white people would
trade places with me?"
Excerpt: Last week, Tiger Woods assumed all blame and
indicated that he had no assistance or enabling from his inner circle.
It was an interesting claim, given that Woods
was the embodiment of a multimillion-dollar corporation and that dozens,
if not hundreds, of people had a vested interest
in keeping his image pristine. How could someone as visible as Woods
commit all the "transgressions" he did, without
some assistance, or at least some people willing to look the other way?
Now, Vanity Fair asks that very question, casting
doubt on Woods' honesty and forthrightness.
Obviously Eldrick had help setting up these get-togethers.
What's he going to do - call airlines
and hotels and use his Tiger Woods American Express card card for these
girls?
When he did that first non-press conference, they say the first guy
he hugged afterwards
was the guy who wrangled the girls - is that how a contrite man acts?
Keeping his enablers in his inner circle is like trying to quick coke
or meth
while living with your drug dealer - it's just not going to work.
I'll bet Eldrick gets back to cheating inside a year.
He knows all he's got to do is wink to his buddy and he's all set up.
If there has ever been a more irrelevant person
in politics than Peggy Noonan,
I cannot think of them yet here she is again.
This time Peggy writes that the mood of the country
is bad, and everyone should stop
stirring up angry people. Then she goes
on to declare the Democrats are very bright,
but not bright enough to understand they are
stirring up the “beehive” as she puts it.
Why does anyone read this woman? She does admit
there were “problems” before
President Obama took office, then says he should
stop doing the peoples’ work
because that makes them angrier.
Can anyone explain to me what the point of her
article is? Except another
“I am concerned for everybody, no really I am”
post that always,
always hints that it really is the Democrats’
fault.
Peggy Noonan, American Princess and ultimate “Concern
Troll”.

Excerpt: A federal judge on Wednesday ruled that the NSA's
warrantless surveillance program was illegal,
rejecting the Obama administration’s effort to
keep shrouded in secrecy one of the most disputed
counterterrorism policies of der former Monkey
Fuhrer.
Judge Vaughn R. Walker ruled that the government
had violated a 1978 federal statute requiring court
approval for domestic surveillance when it intercepted
phone calls of Al Haramain, a now-defunct Islamic
charity in Oregon, and of two lawyers who were
representing it in 2004. Declaring that the plaintiffs had been
"subjected to unlawful surveillance", the judge
said that the government was liable to pay them damages.
The ruling delivered a blow to the Bush administration’s
claims that its warrantless surveillance program,
which Mr. Bush secretly authorized shortly after
9-11, was lawful. Under the program, the NSA monitored
Americans' e-mail messages and phone calls without
court approval, even though the FISA, required warrants.
Obama is a Constitutional scholar - he knows these wiretaps are
illegal.
Maybe he had to keep using them for political purposes?
If he ordered the wiretaps shut down, and a bomb went off somewhere
in America,
the gasbag Right would say, "Obama refused
to take the necessary steps to protect us."
Excerpt: Media-stoked paranoia on the far right is definitely
reaching epidemic proportions.
Many are simply sad sacks, like the Alabama "militiaman"
urging people to break Democrats' windows
and prattling about "civil war" on his Web site.
Interviewed by the Washington Post, 57-year-old Mike Vanderboegh
turns out to be a retired warehouse manager suffering
from congestive heart failure, diabetes and hypertension and living
on $1,300 a month disability checks from, yes,
the federal government. In short, a classic adept of right-wing talk radio,
an unsophisticated, easily manipulated shut-in.
As a young man, he belonged to the extreme left
Progressive Labor Party. Unfortunately, one needn't be consistent or
even coherent to be dangerous. The arrests of
those apocalyptic "Christian" militiamen in Michigan proved that. Experts
say their motives were more religious than political,
but when your goal is to foment insurrection does it matter whether
it's cops or congressmen you're targeting?
Quick now, which is crazier: President Obama as
the antichrist, or as Hitler? Both forms of madness flourish in an
atmosphere of manufactured hysteria being daily
fomented for partisan and commercial reasons on "conservative"
talk-radio and TV, while supposedly respectable
figures in the Republican Party pretend not to understand.
Will it take an "unthinkable" tragedy to bring
them to their senses?
"Here we go again. Does Obama still think anyone
from the 'party of no' will support any Democratic proposal just because
he caves in? They don't even like this awful proposal and are already complaining about it.
How many times do we need to see this story play out before our president wakes up?" -- Steve in Paris,
