Excerpt: A furious transatlantic row has erupted over
quotes that were attributed to a retired Italian bishop,
which suggested that Jews were behind the current
criticism of the Catholic church's record on tackling clerical sex abuse.
A website quoted Giacomo Babini, the emeritus
bishop of Grosseto, as saying he believed a "Zionist attack"
was behind the criticism, considering how "powerful
and refined" the criticism is.
The comments, which have been denied by the bishop,
follow a series of statements from Catholic churchmen
alleging the existence of plots to weaken the
church and Pope Benedict XVI.
Allegedly speaking to the Catholic website Pontifex,
Babini, 81, was quoted as saying:
"They do not want the church, they are its natural
enemies.
Deep down, historically speaking, the Jews
are God killers."
ha ha The child rapists are calling the Jews names
- gotta love that.
The interview was spotted on Friday by the American
Jewish Committee, which said Babini was using
"slanderous stereotypes, which sadly evoke the
worst Christian and Nazi propaganda prior to world war two".
I have an idea.
Let's keep Toyota and run the religions out of business.
Excerpt: Anyone who has wondered where the Republicans
would take America if they regain control of Congress
and the White House could learn much from what
has been happening lately in Virginia and West Virginia.
The answer is backward, toward a time when
mine owners let their workers perish as a normal cost of
doing business -- and government firmly endorsed
the white supremacy of the Old South.
The political attitudes of unreconstructed Dixie
remain dominant in the Republican Party, even as its would-be
leaders and activists don "tea party" costumes.
To understand those attitudes as well as the economic and
cultural forces behind them, one of the best
sources available is the Institute for Southern Studies and its Web site,
Facing South, which publishes excellent news
analysis and investigative reporting.
The current offerings include a well-informed
essay by editor Chris Kromm on Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell's
sinister proclamation of Confederate History
Month, for which he was forced to apologize. As Kromm explains,
this incident is only the latest of many that
have revealed the real message within the nostalgia for a certain heritage..."
Bill Clinton's biggest pre-Monica crime was being a friend to the Black

When the GOP needed a reason to impeach him, they went to The Arkansas

"I've not heard them cheer this loud in all
my years." -- Eldrick, lying to CBS about
Sunday's crowds, Link
Hey Eldrick, IF
they were cheering louder,
was it because Mickelson was kicking your ass?
Sidebar: I guess I expected CBS to cover for Eldrick
the Cheater but they also covered up
for Eldrick the Golfer. I didn't
watch much of it, but twice I saw Eldrick hit a ball
so wild the cameras couldn't even follow
it. One time they called it "miles off,"
but the cameras never showed Eldrick searching
for his ball - that'd be too much.
They cut away and then they'd get back to

Excerpt: Toyota has routinely engaged in questionable,
evasive and deceptive legal tactics when sued, frequently claiming
it does not have information it is required to
turn over and sometimes even ignoring court orders to produce key
documents, an Associated Press investigation
shows.
In a review of lawsuits filed around the country
involving a wide range of complaints — not just the sudden
acceleration problems that have led to millions
of Toyotas being recalled — the automaker has hidden the existence
of tests that would be harmful to its legal position
and claimed key material was difficult to get at its headquarters in
Japan. It has withheld potentially damaging documents
and refused to release data stored electronically in its vehicles.
For example, in a Colorado product liability lawsuit
filed by a man whose young daughter was killed in a 4Runner
rollover crash, Toyota withheld documents about
internal roof strength tests despite a federal judge's order that
such information be produced, according to court
records. The attorneys for Jon Kurylowicz now say such
documents might have changed the outcome of the
case, which ended in a 2005 jury verdict for Toyota.
Well, if the Whore AP says they're guilty, why
even investigate?
And since the government has fined them $16M,
does that mean they know what went wrong?

Excerpt: All told, the state's annual marijuana crop is
estimated by some to be worth about $14 billion, "dwarfing,"
in the words of a recent Associated Press story,
"any other sector of the state's agricultural economy."
The economic collapse, in starkest particulars,
has highlighted the fact that shifting marijuana from black market
to organic farmers' market could be a boon to
ravaged state economies. True, President Obama, in touting his
new green economy, has thus far avoided mentioning
this other, not-quite-so-new green economy. But some
politicians are beginning to. California governor
Arnold Schwarzenegger announced last year that "it's time for
a debate" about legalizing pot, just before it
was estimated that decriminalization could net California $1.4 billion
in annual revenue. (Schwarzenegger is unlike
most other governors in that not only has he smoked weed with
Tommy Chong, but when asked about it by an ambushing
paparazzi with a video camera, he beamed and
nearly shouted, "We always had a good time!")
Jack Daniels is legal almost everywhere.
Alcohol is a dangerous, potentially lethal drug.
God's flowers are legal almost nowhere, and nobody dies from pot unless a cop kills them during
the arrest.

Hola, I first heard of Del Castillo on your site
8 years ago.
Tthey played 70 yards from my brothers house in
Austin a couple weeks ago at SXSW.
Got to see them this past Friday at Danelctro's

been playing since 74, and these guys are world
class...very inspirational.
I talked to Rick for a couple minutes and he was
just super nice.

For some time I have wondered why a group of people
who I would never suspect being inclined to carry protest signs
and become involved in politics etc....suddenly
are...Some suspect racism among other things and no doubt that is a part
of it..
To me the common thread is a hatred of Government
and a fear of the feds taking over their lives....I wondered why such a
resentment to a concept..something you really
can't define but none the less seems real and has the potential of taking
over your life.
In other words,controling you..
Then it hit me...What are they really relating
to..the one thing that they have surrendered to that they have, without
free will,
forsaken their humanity or freewill. Something
that they can't explain but never the less are in a sense forced by social
norms
guilt or loneliness to become a part of.
Bingo ..... RELIGION... But they can't lash
out at it... ..
It just won't fly even though in their heart
of hearts they Know it is all bullshit.
They are so angry and the GOVERNMENT is the perfect
target.. Easy to organize a group of people
against something they perceive as something
that will take away their freedoms but it can't be the church..
Shell game...Go after the Government
Maybe someone alot smarter then me can take this
idea and run with it or I will just put it in my next big pot of alligator
gumbo.

They didn't mind when Bush spent a trillion dollars to get 5,000

TREAT it.

Excerpt: An airplane that towed banners taunting Tiger
Woods about his sex scandal during the Masters
has been ordered to stop until it undergoes minor
repairs.
Kathleen Bergen, an Atlanta-based spokeswoman
for the Federal Aviation Administration,
said Friday that FAA flight safety inspectors
issued the order after meeting with the plane’s pilot.
The single-engine Cessna made two flights near
Augusta National as Woods played Thursday
in the first round of the Masters, close enough
that the banners could be read from the course
So, the FAA had taken on the role of protecting Eldrick from ridicule?
Why did they decide an emergency inspection was called for?
The plane was allowed to fly home to Ohio, but it was "unsafe" for them
to fly around Georgia?
Is there no end to the special protection for this super-rich Republican?

My SS provides us with enough income to live pretty
well, , whereas in the U.S., I would be living

some trade offs living in a 3rd world country, like it’s
hard to get good pizza here and driving is a
bit challenging, the benefits far outweigh the negatives.
Although we have no medical insurance, a doctors
visit is about $10.00. Less than the deductible
I paid in the U.S. and without the $1,500 per
month insurance premiums we paid for being a little bit
older and with a pre existing condition! I had
pneumonia a while back and the total bill, including doctor,
tests, and medicine was less than $100.00. And
yes, the doctors are as good here as in the U.S. and
maybe even better, since they take the time to
actually talk to you.

"Don't know much about history Don't know much biology Don't know much about a science book Don't know much about the French I

-- your average teabagger,
Rep Hank Johnson, a Black Democrat from Georgia, is afraid the island
of Guam
might "tip over" if too many people are on the island at the same time.
Sir, Guam isn't a dinner plate floating on the ocean.
It's sitting on a mountain that goes all the way to the floor of the
Pacific Ocean.
It can't tip over any more than the United States can tip over.
Sir, how did you get in the US congress?
It's funny, when Johnson says that, the military officer he's grilling
replied,
"We do not anticipate that happening," which
was tons better than laughing out loud.
When contacted afterwards, Johnson's spokesman tried his best to paper
over his Texas-sized blunder:
“I wasn’t suggesting that the island of Guam
would literally tip over. I was using a metaphor to say that with the addition of 8,000 Marines and
their dependents – an additional 80,000 people during peak construction to the port on the tiny
island with a population of 180,000 – could be a tipping point which would adversely affect the island’s
fragile ecosystem and over burden its already overstressed infrastructure.
“Having traveled to Guam last year, I saw firsthand
how this beautiful – but vulnerable island – is already overburdened, and I was simply voicing my
concerns that the addition of that many people could tip the delicate balance and do harm to Guam.”
Nice try, Dude, but you said what you said.
Sure, everyone has a brain fart now and then, but this time it was
...unfortunate that the cameras were rolling to catch this massive
screw-up.
