I've been reading for about 14 years, right about the time G.W. Bush was elected. Over the last half decade it has become my daily routine to read BartCop during my lunch break. I already feel the hole left by his departure. I will miss the daily glimpse he served up of liberal life in a red state.

Goodbye Bart. You never knew me aside from a few emails on technical stuff, but I'll miss you like I'd miss any friend.

This site has been my mental grounding since I first found it early in the Bush administration. I don't believe I ever missed a new page. It was the relief I needed when I thought the whole world had lost its sanity. I subscribed to Bartcop Radio for awhile and even spoke to Bartcop a few years ago. I feel like I lost a family member and it will take awhile to adjust to life without Bartcop. All I can say now is thanks. You have been a important piece of my life. Your courage and brashness sets a high bar for all liberal bloggers. Thanks again and Rest In Peace brother.
Your friend always

A voice of reason in the crazy Bush years. Thanks for the memories, and for being an example of someone who never shrieked away from being a "Liberal". RIP.

Wow. Bart was the inspiration for starting my own blog. The man kept many of us sane during the Bush years, and his refusal to give in, and his righteous anger and humor were things the rest of us would do well to imitate.

Use the big hammer.

I just heard. I have to bow my head. He made a difference. I used to read this blog every day, for years. Now I check in less often -- but that's only because other hands have taken up the quarrel with the foe. I remember when he was one of the very few who kept the fire burning.

"To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields."

Mrs. Bart,
I was deeply saddened by the death of Bart. I honestly felt like I had lost a close friend. I will miss the humor that brightened my day and could make me laugh so hard I hurt.

You often said what we were thinking, but were too chicken to say ourselves. Thanks for being a friend and for swinging the hammer.

My condolences on the loss of your husband Mrs. Bart. Our side has lost a real fighter. As some of your other readers have pointed out, reading Bartcop offered an opportunity to learn something about arguing politics with our knuckle dragging counterparts. I count myself among the many that have been empowered for political battle thanks to Barts confident quick wit. I also loved his sense of humor. I've been a reader for ten years, and I'll miss him, and think of him often.
